With Shavlik's solutions, you will BE READY to identify and eliminate gaps in your security.
Security vulnerabilities are uncovered on a daily basis, and managing the security patches that address them can be an endless and often complicated task for every network administrator. Without the right automated solutions, patch management can be a tedious and herculean task, requiring companies to regularly devote hundreds or even thousands of man-hours. Furthermore, deploying an untested or incorrect patch, or failing to patch key business assets can result in serious consequences for the organization.
In recent years, some organizations made the decision to utilize patch management capabilities built into general purpose configuration management or systems management applications. Unfortunately, these organizations are beginning to recognize that leaving the critical task of patching systems to a "bolted on" tool can result in multiple systems left unknowingly patched and vulnerable, which increases an organization's risk, but also results in failed security audits. A recent Gartner report titled The Patch Management Market: Collision or Coexistence? dated March 3, 2008, states that "Organizations accepting WSUS as 'good enough' have significantly higher labor costs for content analysis, testing and deployment."
Fortunately, Shavlik Technologies takes the sting out of the patch management process, while at the same time accelerating and continuously improving security and compliance readiness. Our industry leading solutions simplify even the most complicated patch management tasks so network administrators can get their life back and corporate executives can sleep well at night.

Microsofts WSUS comes as part of our University Select Agreement, but WSUS is limited and does not provide the application coverage we need. Different software tools are used by different departments to resolve and manage the patching process, such as custom-built scripts, in order to handle applications not supported by WSUS - which add to IT cost and resources.
